5/ The old thing I loved is dying and there isn't a replacement. Mastodon isn't Twitter. It doesn't want to be, can't be, and shouldn't be. It can't replace it because it's not the same thing. I do believe I will keep finding things to love about Mastodon as time goes on and I get to know the community better here. I see a lot to like already and I'm glad it is its own entity and not a halfhearted clone.
But I do miss my Old Thing sometimes. The one that's dying. I wish it didn't end like this.
@auschwitzmuseum visited the site this year we were told in the tour to not look at the numbers but to look at the individual. Pick a shoe it belonged to a person not a number. I think everyone should visit aushwitz but also visit krakow to see more of the Jewish history
@lbcp @auschwitzmuseum say every name. Look at where every person was from and how old they were when they were murdered. Remember and say that they deserved to live and deserved better.

19 November 1943 | A selection took place in the female camp in Auschwitz II-Birkenau. 394 Jewish prisoners were selected. On the way to gas chambers, Bina Braun and Rosa Theberger, who tried to escape and hide, were shot.
The list of selected prisoners was signed by the camp commander SS-Untersturmführer Hössler. A copy of the list was stolen and turned over to the resistance. The picture shows the third page of with the Hössler's signature.
