Truly upsetting & I hope Democrats reading this run for local school board—because otherwise it will get worse for our kids.😳

The Berkeley County School District in South Carolina swore in 6 board members who were elected last week & endorsed by the right wing “Moms for Liberty.” They immediately fired the district’s first Black superintendent, fired the district’s lawyer, & banned CRT.

@QasimRashid This is near me, and I have quite a few friends whose kids go to Berkeley County Schools or who live in that county. It's terrifying, and I think a similar group has a stronghold on my county's board as well. I'm glad it's making the news...

@QasimRashid They intend to destroy public education as we know it. Locally they have attempted to get an excellent long time teacher fired for merely attempting to explain what CRT actually is and explain that it is not and never has been taught in Florida public schools. Their tactic was to enroll their child in his class only so they could pull them out in a mock huff and lie about why they did it. Fortunately it was an obvious ploy and it failed. They are despicable, but not clever.

@QasimRashid This is extremely concerning. In uk we recently stopped extreme Alt right climate change deniers / opponents of reporting on slavery links at a national body called National Trust. They tried to stack it with their people . It was a social media campaign it worked. Any chance of campaigning for more robust legislation ?
