Little #MastodonTip : if you ask a question in a post and eventually get a good answer, you can edit your post with the answer added!
That way people who have boosted it will know the answer as well (it should notify them) and people who see it know that there is no need to answer.
Mastodon Tip #1:
Hashtags are great to find, follow and filter topics.
Place them at the very end of your toot, so your helpful list can automatically shorten in timelines by apps like Tusky.
So nobody has to complain about to many of them... 😉

I just learned that followers-only posts are truly only visible to your followers, even if someone visits your profile. Unless they're a follower they cannot see them.
That opens up a whole new avenue of safety. We might experiment with more private thoughts through our followers-only posts.
I just thought it could be useful information for other people. Boosts are okay.
#FediTip. Follow lots of people who post cool stuff. **BUT ALSO** create a "Read First" list and add any IRL or special accounts whose stuff you don't want to miss. Keep it short, and rotate folks in, or out. Then when you pop on, start there and eventually make it to your regular timeline. There's no algorithm, make your own!
Thinking of migrating to a new server, anyone have a recommend?
Looking for a server w/ about 300-1000 active users, friendly to LGBTQ folks, more of a general server vs something really specific.
It's a bonus if folks talk about media, games, making things, some silliness, some politics. I think I'm looking for something well managed, updated, and just a fun place to post, that is somewhat active as well.
3 #MastodonTips that I find useful:
1.When you follow a new account, activate the notifications (🔔) icon next to the follow button. That way their posts won't get lost in the Big Timeline and you can get an idea of whether you want to keep following them on the long term.
2.If someone boosts too much for you, but you still want to see their original posts in your timeline, you can deactivate their boosts (in the options for their profile: ...> Hide boosts). (Unfortunately this doesn't hide boosts in their profile, which would be great to have as an option)
3.If your posts don't get boosted as much as you'd like, it could be that they don't have AltText! You can set a reminder for adding it in the "Compose box" options (the two ⚙️ ): tick "Show confirmation dialog before sending toots lacking media descriptions"
Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions!
