AEMO slams Murdoch media campaign that claims renewables are not low cost

AEMO says media claims that its cost assessment on renewables do not include system costs are just wrong. But the campaign against wind and solar is getting pretty crazy.

It is hard to keep up with all the #greenwashing actions at the moment. Here is the latest Australian one - 'In an Australian first, Australian Parents for Climate Action (AP4CA) has filed a claim in the Federal Court of Australia against EnergyAustralia for misleading over 400,000 consumers about the climate impact of its products.

AP4CA alleges that EnergyAustralia is misleading customers by marketing its Go Neutral product as “carbon neutral” and having “a positive impact on the environment” when it is primarily generated by burning fossil fuels, which the company claims to have “offset” simply by buying carbon credits.' #auslaw #auspol #sustainability

A throwback to autumn a couple of years back to one of my favourite images in this particular woodland.

I had walked past this scene possibly a hundred times before I saw it less than 10m from one of the parking areas, thanks to the unfolding epic light show. It requires getting the camera up to about 2.3m above the ground for everything to fall into place.

With the media so obsessed with the eventual "waste" from green energy production - end of life solar panels, turbine blades, batteries etc, wouldn't it be great if they provided context?

There are 9000 oil tanker ships on the planet. 10s of thousands of petrol trucks. 10s of thousands of petrol stations. 10s of thousands of miles of pipeline.

All of which are environmentally damaging to dispose of.

Yet, never discussed in the media. Its just the green boogeyman.

I miss the weird old web. Handcrafted html. Webrings. View counters. Frames. Works best in Netscape Navigator. Watching pictures download line by line. Java applets. Chat rooms. There were certainly problems, but the whole space felt limitless and fun - not just repackaged corporate, SEO, and ad riddled garbage...
Here's one for the euryhaline elasmobranch enthusiasts. It's the Maugean skate everyone! Skate or die! https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jun/14/today-in-creatures-you-might-have-heard-of-the-maugean-skate

Another June, another Traralgon marathon event. Once again, there for the half with a bunch of other #bawbawrunners . Weather at the start was cold and foggy, but cleared to a brilliant bluebird day. My race was casually indifferent, but issues early, solved by an unplanned toilet stop 🙄 Afterwards, all good as I found my rhythm.
Nicky needed to run under 2:30 to qualify for Wonderland. Result achieved with 2:17 (subject to confirmation), which was a great relief.
