News Corp's war on Victorian Labor continues unabated.
Murdoch’s Herald Sun remains relentless in its bombardment of the state Labor government. Latest example: today’s doom headline “Melbourne: ‘I’ve never known a city so paralysed by hopelessness’” — painting Victoria’s capital as a crime-ravaged disaster zone.
Yet Melbourne is probably the best-run major city in Australia.
This isn’t journalism — it’s sustained political campaigning. From the “Dictator Dan” slurs against Daniel Andrews, pandemic-era misinformation, racialised moral panics about African-Australian communities, and relentless negativity through columnists like Andrew Bolt and Peta Credlin, the Herald Sun blurs news and advocacy to push its hard conservative agenda and undermine Victorian Labor at every turn.
Yet every state election delivers the same result: a landslide for Labor. That’s why Victoria is the Education State.
Maybe each new generation of Australians is a little less willing to buy what certain media empires are selling.
Turns out Guardian Australia, the BBC, the New York Times and even the AFL’s site are pulling bigger online audiences than any News Corp paper here. Even The Australian is being comfortably outpaced.
For an outfit that once claimed to shape the national conversation, that’s quite the comedown.
And this is out of the mouth of an idiot King's Council laywer who's had +40 years of not saying the quiet bit out loud.
Suspect we're looking at another consumer of Murdoch's brainwashing media.

And this is in Rupert Murdoch's The Australian newspaper
As such it is another step in Murdoch's years long drive to inflame fears and create dissension in western democracies.
I'm told there is/was a section in the online edition of The Australian used to twist readers' mind with articles like this.
“Drill, baby, drill” they say. But who exactly is doing the drilling? It’s not “us” — it’s foreign multinationals.
Follow the money and it runs from News Corp (American owned, minimal tax here) straight to the gas lobby, Australian Energy Producers, representing giants like ExxonMobil, Shell, INPEX and Chevron.
So when Angus Taylor and Pauline Hanson call for more drilling… whose interests are they really backing?

Would be a sensible time for Anthony Albanese to appoint a Royal Commission On The Murdoch Media.
News Corp is an input company for AI
Translation: Rupert's propaganda machine is happy to sell its slop to Meta for $50m a year so Zuck can train even dumber chatbots. The same News Corp that calls platforms 'true monsters' when they're not paying up. Rules for thee but not for me, eh?

A big bipartisan bullying project by successive Australian governments that's increased domestic violence, and made Australia a nastier, crueller place.
Time to stand up to Murdoch?
How touching. A billionaire who has made a fortune preying on gambling addicts now wants us to feel sorry for him. What sort of monster would dare make casinos pay tax and stop them from laundering money.
