Today's productive use of #chatGPT: pasted in a research assistant job description and prompted it to generate a rubric via which to review applications. What was most interesting is how this reflected back to us some redundancies in the original jd.

My colleague Steven Faerm wrote this brief article on the pitfalls of new faculty being told "you'll figure it out" in lieu of proper pedagogical training.

It reminded me also of recent remarks by Cathy Davidson with shocking stats - 3% of college students go on to pursue doctoral work yet the vast majority of full-time faculty are "trained" to teach with a focus on content and not pedagogy.
