microsoft/github, google, mozilla, and many other companies are pushing LLMs as the next big thing, and we're already seeing the consequences. google search is largely useless now, in the past i would tell people to "just google it" because i knew that there would be useful info if someone searched for an answer, now i hesitate and most often recommend other avenues of finding info. microsoft is recommending wild LLM-generated news stories that have no base in reality, right in the windows operating system. github is pushing their "copilot" LLM Hard despite it generating buggy, useless code that results in just as much time wasted debugging it as if it was written from scratch.
LLMs are unfit for purpose
as a statistical model it will find interesting relationships between data that is fed to it.
any other application of the technology is going to result in it generating garbage. if someone is pushing it as a new hot tech that applies to your field they are likely a scam artist/huckster along the lines of the blockchain/nft scams that were widespread in the not so distant past and are just looking to relieve you of your money.

@chrisisgr8 i think there's a longstanding timezone issue with google calendar, where it just doesn't understand timezones unless you repeatedly poke it with a pointy stick until it works
@cr1901 as far as I know only followers and following migrate*, previous toots don't
* sometimes followers don't automatically move over, sometimes they do after a delay. you can export a list of your following and import it on your new instance if some get missed in the migration
