Currently working to finalize the Atlas of the Balkan Linguistic Area. Here’s a sneak peek 👀 for
*hayde* a word of Turkish origin meaning ‘c’mon!’
You can see in the map it’s present in several languages and dialects in the Balkans and its eastern periphery.
Speakers of various languages from Italy and under Italian cultural influence are alone in not using the Turkish-origin exhortative, indicating the westernmost limits of the Balkan cultural area.

Die Polizei setzt seit dem Morgen die Räumung des Protestcamps "Tümpeltown" in Hannover fort. Dort protestieren Aktivisten gegen die Verbreiterung des Südschnellwegs und Rodung von Bäumen in der Leinemasch.

a EU citizen's initiative to tax the rich more so that we can take more action against global warming and social inequalities.
It currently has 100k+ total votes, but we need a lot more to make it work. France already has 130% of the needed votes (76k out of 55k), but e.g the netherlands only 2% (400 out of 20k).

An Hochschulen wird aufgeregt über Kl diskutiert — zu nachrangigen Fragen. Worüber wir stattdessen reden müssen: Dass Hochschulen digitale Autonomie preisgeben, indem sie sich an Tech-Unternehmen binden. Warum das verhindert werden muss & was #OpenScience / #OpenSource damit zu tun haben: @Maximilian_Mayer & ich dazu heute in der FAZ.
