We should stop calling them “ad blockers”. If a site serves up a few banner ads as images like the old days, that’s fine. I don’t object to a site paying the bills, or seeing a banner ad.
They’re malware blockers and privacy protections. I don’t want a site popping up bullshit and trying to track me across the net. If that’s what a site is serving, it’s more than an ad, and I absolutely want to block it.
The Framework 16 laptop detects when it's booted partially assembled. It boots into a special mode to walk you through completing the assembly. The screen updates to reflect your progress and prompt the next step. This requires no tools to complete. Impressive! Watch:

The Federated Identity Working Group has published a First Public Working Draft of Digital Credentials. This API enables websites to request credentials, and for users to consent to return credentials that they carry around in digital wallets.
Early implementations of the Digital Credentials API are now available from Google and Apple. People can view demos and conduct experiments, and the experimentation will inform the evolution of this specification. Read more at:

Level 4 improves the rendering of dialogs and similar overlay elements and defines a ‘::backdrop’ pseudo-element for them, which can, e.g., black out the rest of the document. The ::backdrop was previously part of the Fullscreen #API specification and is already widely implemented.
