So that performance issue (really low CPU speeds when plugged into power) I’ve experienced with the FW16 - it seems like it behaves differently if I boot it with the power plugged in, versus plugging it in later after the computer has booted.

I also did a “controller reset” where you hold the power button down 30 seconds. That might have also helped it.

Holy crap, @frameworkcomputer has introduced devkits and modules for enabling external desktop GPUs on #Framework16 laptops! #FrameworkNextGen

New blogpost:
Another update on my Frame.work 16, and why I took so much time to make one:

Another update on my Frame.work experience

A few more thoughts about the Frame.work I bought a few years back. I am less benevolent in this one.

Oh, that's nice:
KDEs system monitor doesnt wake up the dGPU on my Framework 16 anymore on its own.
Will keep an eye on that, but that's really cool!

Found a new #bench today.

It has direct view of #trains I frequently ride and a #bicycle highway.

This might become a favourite!

So I was working on a basic character model in #Blender - this is 4.5.1 LTS. Pretty rock solid. Parented a hand to an arm. BOOM. Blender crashed. Started a new scene. Two cubes. Parent one to another. BOOM. Blender crashed.

I went and switched the front end from #Vulkan to #OpenGL.

No more crashes. This is on my #Framework16 with the AMD "add-on" Radeon RX 7700S.

This is the damndest thing I've ever seen in Blender. I'm going to put crash details in reply to this.

ADDED: Colin helped me out - really old driver was the problem! :D

#Framework16 laptop has an uptime of ten minutes and the keyboard already has to be reset.
First malfunction on the Framework 16; the 3.5mm audio expansion card. Don't even really use it but started noticing brief lockups which I thought was related to wifi. Checked the logs and USB flapping errors, ordered a new one, submitted a support request and will crack the old one open once the new one is confirmed working. I suspect it's something as simple as a solder defect. The good, I'd need a new mainboard from any other manufacturer, the bad, well, I guess there is no real bad just yet as I wasn't using it but I guess if I had to I'd probably just fix the one I have here. The new one did cost a total of $30.49 USD so there's that and the time lost in ordering and lodging a support case (primarily because I wasn't sure if it was batch related). #framework16
The CPU fan on the #Framework16 is really high pitched. Good thing I'm partially deaf.
In the last ten minutes, I have had to disconnect and reconnect my #Framework16 keyboard four times because of bugs in the keyboard firmware. Now the trackpad stopped working.
