It will NEVER happen. No way. There is zero reason to. Threads is in a dominant position now. Once the cold-blooded mucky mucks and strategists start to look at the bottom-line potential, all the well-meaning engineers will be pushed over to monetization instead of the pet ActivityPub features. It won’t happen.
