I enjoy technology & always learning. I'm a daily #ArchLinux & #ArtixLinux user with #Sway. I enjoy using #Alpine & #Debian on my servers, but have used other distros in the past starting with #Slackware on floppy disks. #FreeSoftware is important to me. Also recently exploring the #BSD world of Unix.

For phones, I like the #PinePhone but daily drive #GrapheneOS.

A big win for ODF, the EU Commission DG CONNECT has added the ODS template to the CRA Guidance feedback process, reacting promptly in a positive way to our request. Kudos to DG CONNECT.

Well, this probably means that using generative AI for development is incompatible with any foss licensing, but it also means that there’s no such thing as “proprietary” GenAI code.

The Supreme Court doesn't care if you want to copyright your AI-generated art

The highest court in the US declined to review a case about copyrighting artwork created with the help of AI.

What if I could convince you that taking the same time to explain detailed requirements and carefully validate results with a junior colleague instead of a chatbot would not only give you two people who understood the code instead of zero, but if you do it a few times in a row you eventually get a senior colleague out of the deal for free.

Keep Android Open https://keepandroidopen.org/

"You, the consumer, purchased your Android device believing in Google’s promise that it was an open computing platform and that you could run whatever software you choose on it. Instead, as of September 2026, they will be non-consensually pushing an update to your operating system that irrevocably blocks this right and leaves you at the mercy of their judgement over what software you are permitted to trust".

Do you know the fable of the scorpion and the frog? Well, Google is the scorpion and we are the frogs.

Silly #Poll: where are you along the #neckbeard pipeline?

(Note: the neckbeard is metaphorical. No actual facial hair required)

Also, please remember #DanesLaw: no matter how carefully someone attempts to construct a poll, the very first comment will usually expose a glaring oversight. That's just how it goes.
