who said she dreamed of warm snow.
But the planet kept turning,
leaving nothing of her now --
Only blossoms hugged by the snow.

I'm Alexandra, a writer of fiction and non-fiction. I help build I Write Like, a markdown text editor. I share news about it, although most of the time I talk about writing, science, and other things that catch my attention.
I'm a person of the mountains, meaning -- I spend a lot of time there, bringing back photos, thoughts, poetry and fairy tales. All of those I also intend to share here.
I'm new. I'm excited. I'm still learning.

Am I right that there are zero Fediverse projects on the #GSoC2026 list?

"He wrote Pinocchio with the deadpan irony of a man who thought most children's literature was sentimental rubbish."
https://storica.club/blog/pinocchio-in-italian/
The original 1881 serial ended in chapter fifteen with the puppet hanging dead from an oak tree. Italian children wrote in begging the author to continue. He resumed reluctantly. What followed — donkey-skin drums, dead-girl fairies, a satire of every other moralising children's book in Italy — became one of the most translated books in human history, and quietly helped teach Italians their own language.
Was reading my old toots when I ran across this:

And boy do I hate when someone says "I understand prioritizing your mental health."
It's like saying "I understand prioritizing your legs" to a wheelchair user when they've said no to running a marathon.
I'm not prioritizing shit. I just can't do what you ask, full stop.

and it just struck me again how pants people are about accommodating mental limitations.

These polls are the quickest way to live through all possible emotions at once. They always surprise me. Within just a day, I went from being disheartened to being grateful. It's sobering to know your actions change very little, but it's also liberating. Thank you to those who tried IWL. Thank you so much to everyone who voted and reposted. I feel like I see things more clearly now. Now I just have to last through six more days of this enlightening experience 😅.
“You might think it counterintuitive that a movement obsessed with software would spearhead a severe decline in the design quality of software. But software brain is an obsession with software as a medium in and of itself. A means with no consideration for the end.”

You might think it counterintuitive that a movement obsessed with software would be spearheading a severe decline in the design quality of software, but in Patel’s definition, there’s no concept of software as art, as a practice, as a craft. Software brain is purely an obsession with software as a medium in and of itself. A means with no consideration for the end.
I'm not sure how many of you tried I Write Like after I started posting about it. And it's ok, I'm enjoying it here anyway. Still, it would be nice to have some feedback, so it would help a lot if you voted.

Did people always have so many opinions on how others should live, love, read, write, work, relax or is it the internet that amplified a human trait through massive exposure to so many various things?

I'll never get tired of this feeling when a language you've been studying sprouts just enough for you to start understanding texts or videos. It feels like a super-power, like being able to walk through walls or fly.
