I'm Alexandra, a writer of fiction and non-fiction. I help build I Write Like, a markdown text editor. I share news about it, although most of the time I talk about writing, science, and other things that catch my attention.

I'm a person of the mountains, meaning -- I spend a lot of time there, bringing back photos, thoughts, poetry and fairy tales. All of those I also intend to share here.

I appreciate complexity in nature and simplicity in human-made objects, especially in the digital world. I can't read blogs where things slide, swirl and twirl like bubbles in a mountain river. I like watching the bubbles in a river, though.

I have a long and complicated relationship with poetry. For example, I still cannot call myself a poet, even though I have written some poems. I especially love it when I have to fit an idea into a predetermined structure. The attached poem is my attempt at a villanelle -- a style where certain lines repeat in a certain way, as do the rhymes. For an absolutely perfect villanelle, the rhythm should be the same in each line. So, here's my imperfect villanelle:
