I had tried the Pomodoro technique many times (and failed miserably), until I found the YouTube channels with cat animations and timers. It is so cozy <3

Great Wired read about a Wikipedia editor who's making sure that no one gets away with Nazi reputation-laundering. https://getpocket.com/explore/item/one-woman-s-mission-to-rewrite-nazi-history-on-wikipedia?utm_source=pocket-newtab

"...history is an edit war. Truth, factual and moral, hangs in the balance."

One Woman’s Mission to Rewrite Nazi History on Wikipedia

Ksenia Coffman’s fellow editors have called her a vandal and a McCarthyist. She just wants them to stop glorifying fascists—and start citing better sources.

Watching 2001 from Kubrick before going to bed: not a good idea. I had insomnia thinking about the movie, now I have to work, and I'm still thinking about it. The computers, the humanity, the space, the classical music. So difficult to let it go

Tatsuya Amano and colleagues surveyed nearly a thousand environmental researchers from different countries and compared the amount of effort they put into conducting their research in English:

 https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio.3002184

As expected, it turned out that non-native English speakers, especially at the beginning of their careers, spend significantly more effort than native English speakers.

The manifold costs of being a non-native English speaker in science

This study reveals that non-native English speakers, especially early in their careers, spend more effort than native English speakers in conducting scientific activities, from reading and writing papers and preparing presentations in English, to disseminating research in multiple languages.

In the south of Burkina Faso lies a small village called Tiébélé. It's home to the Kassena people; one of the oldest ethnic groups that settled in the region in the 15th century.

Tiébélé is known for their amazing traditional Gurunsi architecture and elaborately decorated walls of their homes.

Dating back to the 16th century, wall decorating has always been a community project done by the women.

My favorite place of NY, the New York Public Library, for sure.
I usually prefer to share uplifting content, but today, I woke up and read this headline "Yanomami people receive canned sardines from planes." Reading it, I discovered that they can't fish anymore (the river is polluted due to illegal mining, and all the fish died). They are abandoned, facing famine and diseases back in Brazil. I cannot be sadder for my country again (in less than one month). Couldn't find a decent link in English to share, but it's all over the news.
