Fellas:

Drink fruity drinks. Get the scented candles that smell like cookies and doughnuts. Wear lotion that makes you smell like cereal.

Divest from that performative masculinity bullshit, and enjoy your damn life.
We all regularly see the successes of others, but rarely discuss what it actually takes to get there. Normalize talking about that other part...

Finally, a solution to the unfairness of authorship ordering in scientific papers! 😂

"Every Author as First Author"

Every Author as First Author

We propose a new standard for writing author names on papers and in bibliographies, which places every author as a first author -- superimposed. This approach enables authors to write papers as true equals, without any advantage given to whoever's name happens to come first alphabetically (for example). We develop the technology for implementing this standard in LaTeX, BibTeX, and HTML; show several examples; and discuss further advantages.

I don't know who needs to hear this but

The postal service exists to deliver letters and parcels to people
Not to make money for shareholders

The transport system exists to move people to where they need to go
Not to make money for shareholders

The water, gas, and electricity supplies exist to provide people vital utilities
Not to make money for shareholders

The healthcare system exists to ensure (and that's ENsure, not INsure) the health of the population
Not to make money for shareholders

Shareholders in vital public services are a vampiric drain on those services

Capitalism is a disease

Elon Musk is such a genius. Bootstrapped himself and stuff you know, as a young chap in apartheid South Africa, things were hard for him, given the family he had with Emerald mines and all. And then in the US, all those California taxpayer subsidies, the largest racial discrimination lawsuit in the history of the state, the world is just against him you know? He’s such a good guy.

I tried searching the web for a technical question. Found nothing on multiple search engines.

I went to the #Python IRC channel on Libera.chat and asked the question.

I was immediately told "ChatGPT says…".

I do not want to call out the user who did it; they probably thought they were being helpful since they didn't know the answer and wanted to at least give me something. But on a systemic level, this makes me FURIOUS. Not only was ChatGPT's answer useless, it was also wrong. Do not do this.

Keep seeing people comment that if they were billionaires, they’d be the good kind, who used their money to help society.

And I have to keep pointing out, you don’t get to be a billionaire if you’re a person who’d help society. You don’t accumulate the billion dollars: you used it helping society.
