Funny: "I joined on November 15th and found an atmosphere like that of an erudite coffee shop, where conversation is murmured instead of shouted." The New Yorker: https://www.newyorker.com/culture/infinite-scroll/what-fleeing-twitter-users-will-and-wont-find-on-mastodon #mastodon
What Fleeing Twitter Users Will—and Won’t—Find on Mastodon

🧵 It’s the same when i’m #drafting #novels. Doubt turns into anxiety which then overwhelms me. So, I take it scene by scene, peek 🫣 ahead to see the notes in the margins, suck in a deep breath and then commit myself to just get through that scene. Then the chapter as a whole. And it can be so draining that I end up needing a break before scrolling to the next chapter. THANK GOD for my agent’s thoughtful notes because she gives them in bite sized, easy to digest suggestions. ā¤ļø U @tajmccoywrites
🧵 I think I can describe what #amediting feels like now. See, I am a converted #plotter, and while that has made the process of #editing my #book so much easier, I still have such anxiety about tackling my edits. The notes from my agent are clear, helpful, and insightful. There’s no issue there or with the direction. My issue is that I have to take my edits chapter by chapter or even scene by scene to mentally prepare because I’m wondering if I’m even capable of pulling the work out of myself.

If you're wondering whether we call turkeys "turkeys" because they come from Turkey, here's a very old, shaky (but short and nicely referenced) video I did about it. (The short answer is "sort of.")

Why Do We Call It a Turkey?

I definitely meant to include the photo of the rosƩ, but clearly I was too far into the glass to remember. Here you go.

Well, fellow #mahouts, closing out my Sunday night with a glass of rosƩ.

Things I accomplished this weekend:
1. Checked off two items on my #amediting to-do list. And got started on the third.
2. Cleaned my house and successfully snuck up some of my Christmas decorations without throwing the husband into a tizzy for starting too soon.
3. Cooked one of the two nights. (Had full intentions of cooking both but šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø) what am I supposed to do, fight my husband cuz he brought home pizza? Nope. Not me
