Inside the Company Helping America’s Biggest Health Insurers Deny Coverage for Treatments

When companies like Aetna or UnitedHealthcare want to rein in costs, they turn to EviCore, whose business model depends on turning down payments for care recommended by doctors for their patients.

My department (computer science and technology, cambridge university) is recruiting a system administrator! Details at https://www.jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/47810/ — to quote our infrastructure lead, “Primarily Linux, with some involvement in network infrastructure, datacentres, storage, and of course supporting researchers to build interesting things :-)”

One week ago I said there should be a TUI for Home Assistant because it would look dope as fuck and make SSH access pleasant. There is one now, and here's the first release of it: https://github.com/theodric/hatui

Boom!

A few publicly-owned markets in urban food deserts when there are thousands and thousands of privately owned markets in the city is hardly “communism”.

North Dakota even has public banking.

Just as with the “public option” in health care, the oligarchy is really afraid of nonprofit competition.

Any computer-touchers looking for a job? The Cambridge Computer Lab is looking for a mostly Linux sysadmin. Great place to work, I still pop in sometimes, but don’t let that put you off!

EDIT: I believe this requires the ability to be physically in Cambridge (UK) at least some of the time. I am not sure if they can sponsor visas for this job, but they often can.

Second edit: Apparently I was tired when I posted this and completely failed to include the link to the job. Ooops!

@davidho Don't take away my BIKE, bro!

It's my favorite VEHICLE!

@publixpace @davidho the revolution will not be motorized
@davidho according to journalists it's usually a car driving into something when the driver is male and a woman driving into something behind the wheel. I would welcome selfdriving cars if it would also mean no more crashes

@pvdrijst @davidho No more crashes is an impossibility and the self-driving companies have been caught manipulating data collection and reporting to artificially decrease their crash rate.

Safe self-driving cars is currently looking like vaporware.

@davidho You can install the latter on your computer, today! 🙃

Terrible picture: All those pedestrians running around, making loud brrbrrm and woop, woop noises, cutting other pedestrians aggressively and every now and then pushing a bicyclist from their bicycle at full speed.

And never looking below 20 degrees from the horizontal, thus trampling crawling toddlers, dogs and small children alike.
