Happy new year to all those for whom time still has meaning.

The US public domain extends at midnight tonight another year, now encompassing through 1927. Some works are locked up amid copyright confusion, or a publisher simply decided to stop publishing new editions. The public domain ensures access to important works that otherwise would exist only in a handful of libraries.

When the clock strikes midnight tonight, most of the published works from 1927 will move into the public domain in the US. Celebrate these works at one of our two Public Domain Day celebrations, January 19 & 20:
