In 2023 you can reuse your 1978 calendars.
@Richard_Littler
*SO* many things I would do differently this time around.
@Richard_Littler damn, those. are some great calendars
@Richard_Littler *If you need Easter to match too, use a 1950 calendar.

@Richard_Littler
This is a great tip for saving a little extra $ during a recession! Every bit helps!

/s (:

@Richard_Littler YES! I actually have a note on my calendar to pull out my husband's Star Wars calendar from it's hiding place in the basement!

@Richard_Littler

I guess this is why Brett Kavanaugh held on to his.

@Richard_Littler
2017, 2006, 1995, 1989, 1978, 1967, 1961, 1950, 1939, and 1933

if you've got a 1933 calendar around that promo'd the 1933 films, the top films of that year were all pre-code

@Richard_Littler

Thank you for sharing this, it brought a smile to my face ๐Ÿ˜Š.

@Richard_Littler Oooh, those Hildebrandt illustrations bring back great memories (though I was only 6 in โ€˜78, so I donโ€™t think I had it).
@Richard_Littler does this mean Iโ€™ll have my birthday on the same day of the week as when I was actually born?! Thatโ€™s cool.
@Richard_Littler and what a great set of calendars to be born into!
@del @Richard_Littler there are only 14 possible calendar configurations so there will be many times when this is the case :)

@Richard_Littler

...I wasn't born yet.

Look what I've missed...

@Richard_Littler I had the Marvel and the Hildebrandt calendars. And I thought of the latter by the artists, and not the author. โ˜บ๏ธ

@Richard_Littler

I know for sure I had that Star Wars calendar.

@Eclipse13 @Richard_Littler I think I had that one tooโ€”it might have been a Christmas present. A LOT of my Christmas presents in 1978 were Star Wars-themed. ๐Ÿ˜„

@mjibrower @Richard_Littler

They were for me too. And for many, many years after that โ˜บ๏ธ

@Richard_Littler be aware: my date and time expert child points out dates like Easter (and related dates) and Chinese New Year will be different.
@johnvoltz @Richard_Littler I came here to say this, and then wondered about which countries actually care in practice when Easter is. Finland does, the Friday and Monday are days off. Don't really know anything about anywhere else.
@Richard_Littler I think I actually have that Star Wars calendar. Was it the one with a C-3P0 centerfold?
@Richard_Littler I had that Star Wars calendar. Wish I still did.
@Richard_Littler I wish I had known this a year ago.
@Richard_Littler so crazy! Wifey said the same about 2006 the other day, and apparently there's LOTS of years that are the same? Wow. So weird
@Richard_Littler If only we could go back an do a couple of things better
@Richard_Littler Thatโ€™s my birth year!

@Richard_Littler

And 1995 or 1989 if you have them?

I wonder if there were any Windows 95 calendars issued? ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Richard_Littler
I'll have to dig mine up. It's probably buried in my son's room:
@Richard_Littler
Found it! The hole is worn out, though, won't stay on the nail. :P

@Richard_Littler

Brilliant!

...and all of those are still in production on film and TV

@Richard_Littler
Wait, I'm getting 50 soon, but now I'm getting... 5?

That annoying zero would be gone? Great news!!!
Thanks!

@Richard_Littler this is an interesting info, friend.
@Richard_Littler
Iโ€™m so glad I kept mine!
@Richard_Littler the calendars are a scam?? Goddammit!
@Richard_Littler
I...I don't have a calendar from before I was born...
@Richard_Littler thinking. โ€œDammit, Iโ€™m pretty sure Ijust got rid of that LOTR calendaronly like five years ago.โ€
@Richard_Littler Oh, wonders. A real fact. Expected another Zardoz style joke.
@Richard_Littler I'm only willing to reuse a 1978 calendar if time travel is possible. I have stuff like marriages to undo.

@Richard_Littler Thereโ€™s a proposal from two professors at Johns Hopkins university to create a permanent calendar where the days of the week always fall on the same day of the month, so you could reuse the same Star Wars calendar forever.

It would involve declaring that a year is 364 days long, that is, 52 weeks of seven days each, and then making it up with an โ€œintercalary monthโ€ five days long, every few years.

@Richard_Littler Man that Dune calendar is gorgeous
@Richard_Littler
I had the Star Wars calender as a teen. Thanks for the memory jog!
@Richard_Littler But which one do I choose??? ๐Ÿ™€
@Richard_Littler perhaps the best advice Iโ€™ll get this year! Happy 1978 all over again.
@Richard_Littler I had that Tolkien one in junior high!
@Richard_Littler If only my parents hadnโ€™t framed the โ€˜77 and โ€˜78 Hildebrandt Tolkien calendars! Curses!
