Does #followerpower work around here? Let's give this a try.

In general I'm a huge fan of LVFS / fwupd. Being able to easily update all sorts of firmware on #Linux is great (and very relevant for real-world security).

But (you saw that "but" coming for miles, right? ;) ). Since a recent reinstall of my system ( #Fedora #Silverblue ) updates only work if I disable Secure Boot - which is bad from a security viewpoint.

Anyone got an idea how to fix this? Searching the web got me nowhere.

New libcurl test for RTSP Basic authentication by lminiero · Pull Request #9449 · curl/curl

As requested in #4750, this is an attempt to provide a libcurl test to address the currently broken RTSP authentication support. More precisely, this test will check Basic authentication, but in ca...

Hey #datascience bubble, any suggestions for #datascience #ai #ml podcasts?

I alread have Towards Datascience and Data Skeptic in my catcher.

@thegradient @anamarasovic I’m interested in making sure that this instance can support the visibility of early-career scientists. I think people should be encouraged to share their papers with short threads—call them Tootorials—I was intending to make that suggestion Monday and try to kick it off.

Just found out you can follow hashtags on the #Tusky app.

Account Preferences > Tabs > + > Hashtags > Then add the hashtag you want and it shows up on your top bar.

Most people #programming in #python use basic de-structured assignment (ie `a,b = [], 5`), but it's useful for much more.

Here's a common example of combining it with `zip`. I often see programmers in #DataScience and other disciplines use multiple list comprehensions to accomplish this, but there's a simpler and more concise way!

The Data Vis Zines that @_mcnutt_ kindly sent me have arrived via snail mail! Super excited to read them!

The struggle is real (again). I have a great idea what I want to do with #AI / #ML. And I am on a good path in this project, but still: I need to learn the basics first. This will cost me now numerous evenings and a couple of hours of sleep; but in the end it will be worth it on my road to #datasciene.

You need to know the basics first. Even if they are not as fun and shiny.

Crawl > Walk > Run

@goabiaryan @gschwepp Similar to what @simon is pondering.

I think relying on global metrics will indeed bias the selection towards beginner stuff. I muted several well known accounts on the birdsite because of this.

I can't think of anything else except "this toot was liked/boosted by many people you trust".

Counting replies could be bogus either - and will likely favor controversial or just plain wrong stuff.
