Imagine it's 1930's and you get a car. It's Ford model T. It's the best car ever made and you are rightfully proud of it. But the time goes on and technology progresses. Your neighbours upgraded their rides for newer and better cars. Almost hundred years later they are driving semi-autonomous electric vehicles while you still crank-start yours because you refused to move on. After all, you got the best there was!

Now, imagine 18th century, you founded a country and wrote a constitution...

#Berlin on #newyears midnight filmed from a drone looks like this:

Forget about how that sounds... there were about 800 fires fought on this night alone in Berlin. For comparison, there were around 6800 fires fought in Berlin in 2021 in total (stats for 2022 not yet available). That's about 11% of all fires from the whole year happening on a single night or about 43 times more than a normal day.

If you are in #Berlin and get a chance to see one of the silent #movies in #kinobabylon DO IT!

This one was good on so many levels!

It's a symphonic orchestra but with popcorn, it's a cinema but you clap, it's in an old theatre built in 1920's and the movie was just fantastic. Especially if you realise where and when it was made and that it was almost lost to history and had to be recovered from multiple partial copies collected around the world!

We all know how it is, but what do you think the 25th of December should really be called?

My first three days on #mastodon I was flustered how hard it is to find anything interesting.

I don't know anyone, I don't see things similar to what my social circle sees, I see people writing stuff I disagree with...

Wait a moment! Is that how the world (cyberspace?) looks like when not viewed through the prism of search bubbles and machine learning recommendation algorithms?

Journalists will never stick around this app long term sadly unless it adds quote posting. We desperately need it to communicate effectively, build on each others ideas, and add crucial context to posts. These are things replies simply do not accomplish. Also quote posting or reblogging does not = harassment! Tumblr, for instance, has had the feature since the beginning. We need it here now too 🙏🏻
