My first three days on #mastodon I was flustered how hard it is to find anything interesting.
I don't know anyone, I don't see things similar to what my social circle sees, I see people writing stuff I disagree with...
Wait a moment! Is that how the world (cyberspace?) looks like when not viewed through the prism of search bubbles and machine learning recommendation algorithms?
@grepe if you haven't been conditioned for a decade to spend all your time trying to "grow" on the other platforms - I can see where it would be difficult.
There are lots of ways to find what you're looking for here.
1.) Post an #introduction with a list of hashtags and your interests.
2.) Search hashtags and follow people that you like.
3.) Participate in the trending topics. #JohnMastodon was great.
4.) Post interesting content and engage with people - then they will boost your posts
