Old, and tired. Live in a shed in the woods. Like family, boats and making stuff. Wish the uk was boring and normal.
Looking at the amount of misogynistic replies and quote tweets, this tweet gives you a truly depressing view of Twitter/the world. #TwitterLayoffs #twitter
I have enjoyed the careful technological and cultural comparisons between #Twitter and #Mastodon but what stands out for me is that the latter is not owned by a billionaire tweeting out abject and self- aggrandising nonsense to a horde of adoring cult followers whilst summarily terminating the employment of the very people who kept the site working and bearable. #Twexit
Heres a couple of my linocut prints, based on my garden but expressing my love of allotments, community and utility cycling. #allotment #gardening #cycling #cargobike #sustainability #Lifestyle #linocut #art
The internet wasn't intended to be 3 websites with enough power to turn us into doomscrolling zombies, sway public policy and lead to the collapse of democracy.
@davidallengreen Think mastodon is an example of this - no algorithms, no monetisation - so not as convenient - but much more rewarding.
@davidallengreen I think there has been a gradual shift to ‘convenience’ and things being ‘easy’- and tech companies and some parts of the media and a lot of politicians have put effort into making us think that this is good (while making a lot of money) and has lead to relying on simplistic slogans or algorithms that we think give us what we want or services that are pushed at us that we think save time and money and generally just exploit poor people. I hope this is changing.

Good morning! I just crept out of my #nest .

@Annie1

Glad you brought your nobs with you from twitter 👍

Another quick PSA for the newcomers:

There is no Mastodon.

As in, there is no entity out there called Mastodon that needs to "get it together" or "make things easier."

Every server is a unique collection of hardware and software operated by a unique team of (usually) volunteer humans funded by (usually) donations.

Some days will be smoother than others. We new folks have flooded the network. Cut the volunteers some slack. Better yet, offer support.

Anyway my favourite is Two Doctors - gorgeous score, love Troughton and Hines, and teaming them up with Colin and Nicola, love the softer side to Colin and him doing detective stuff, glorious villains. I know you can read dubious things in to the Androgum augmentation stuff, but the golden rule is a take is sometimes just a take, not the only or ultimate view ;)
