I spend far too much time thinking about power relationships in the abstract, overthinking the forest and missing the trees completely.

I really struggle to connect with people, I don't know why.
Chronic depression and mild autism probably don't help.

I've never been threatened by a trans person. Never been harassed, abused, assaulted, or discriminated against by a trans person. Never by a gay person either. I've had all of those things happen to me but the perps were every single one of them cishet men.

So I don't need protection from trans people or any variety of LGBTQ people at all. People who claim that are not speaking for me, they are seeking to oppress me. What I need is for cishet men to unfuck themselves and learn to respect others' autonomy and right to live free from cishet men's aggression and odious dominance displays.

I think of the kind of NDPer who acknowledges climate change is "real" but who explains (to those of us too stupid to grasp it) that we need a strong energy policy - and the oil companies - to fight it.

@stephanie My feeling (and this is just how I'm wired, not necessarily based in evidence) that the problem with the NDP is behind-the-scenes. I think the NDP is managed by a bunch of upper-middle-class and middle-class professional-types who are so deep in the economics and poll-numbers of modern-day neoliberal politics they can't imagine a Canada where disabled people aren't condemned to poverty and where we tax the rich so much they cry.

There are a lot of sober, serious people who worry that being too much against genocide will ruin the NDP's financial solvency, or who think if they promise more than a 5% tweak of a liberal policy they'll be run out of town as a bunch of loonies. There are, in the NDP, very sober and serious people who cannot imagine ever being in government and doing something *different*.

We could get Karl Marx himself to lead the NDP and these sober, serious people will coach him how to suck up to bankers.

Nazis were monstered to such a degree that we've completely dehumanised then. Like they're all heinous jew killers walking around wearing swastikas, you can spot them a mile off, and their ilk get relegated to the fringes of our now decent society.

While I agree with the argument that the term 'nazi' gets banded around a lot in arguments and isn't always applicable, it's easy to forget the vast majority of actual nazis were ordinary people who were aligned with certain political views.
