Hi Joe! Thank you very much for your kind words! In my opinion, this is not a big deal and can be done with some effort. Since it will not be possible to take clean samples after destructive excavation, the important thing is awareness about such research.

Amazing talk of Katarina Makova on great ape sex chromosomes using T2T assemblies at #smbe23 . Impressive amount of new data, not yet published even though human Y data are already in press in Nature. But other great apes data to come. The rapidity of evolution of Y is simply stunning. A lot depends on repeat evolution, of TEs but also of genes in palindromes
