Amazing talk of Katarina Makova on great ape sex chromosomes using T2T assemblies at #smbe23 . Impressive amount of new data, not yet published even though human Y data are already in press in Nature. But other great apes data to come. The rapidity of evolution of Y is simply stunning. A lot depends on repeat evolution, of TEs but also of genes in palindromes

At least he was honest. Most of the times, when a student from our countries applied for an academic job, they think that they were refused because of this kind of weird reasons.

A shocking response from a university professor. She got Erasmus+ Internship grant and applied to a lab at Stockholm University. He declined the student because Turkey doesn't support Sweden to join NATO. Weird!
