Penguin for scale. This is sufficiently retro I think. It's a Tascam 488 Mark 1 from the mid 90's in perfect working condition. The MKII is more common in the wild. They can record 4 tracks at a time, so a rather confusing system of groups and tracks is employed but basically you can map groups to any track and tracks to any group on tape within the limits of the 2-group boundary. It is designed so you can mix and bounce tracks down and out to a stereo track.
