Today I found my first (very modest) contribution to CPython, it was on June 2006 and consisted of a note to be added to a README.

GitHub says I've been involved in 599 #CPython issues, mostly as a bug triager many moons ago. Had lots of fun, called it "the Tracker Archeology effort". I'm so thankful for how it was received then.

A lot of great people have invested a lot of time and energy into triaging and the development process since. Things are different and so much better today.

Today in "how do normal people use computers": the mac "Contacts" app inserts the unicode characters "LEFT-TO-RIGHT OVERRIDE" and "POP DIRECTIONAL FORMATTING" at the beginning & end of any phone number you copy.

It also places these characters *into* the field during editing, so you can navigate your cursor before/after the invisible control characters in the text field, making it so you have to e.g. hit the right arrow twice to move the cursor if you've placed it at the beginning of the field
