Artist Robert Florczak and John Romero both tipped me that the original @princeofpersia game box painting is up for auction! Last time I saw it was in an office in Broderbund in 1989. The artist gifted it to his friend Kevin, who modeled for Jaffar. He kept it for over 30 years, now it's up for grabs. Whoever ends up owning it, let me know!

(Or donate it to the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY, so it can reunite with the Karateka painting :)

We've got everything ass backwards
We cleaned up the "weakbits" region in our digitized file and resumed testing. The .moof image now appears to work properly (MAME supports protected .moof images), passing ALL protection checks under emulation... that we know of. But, faced with this uncertainty, I broke out the big guns, called in a favor, and procured some real hardware for additional testing.

AI's aren't sentient. They can't "steal."

Programmers and institutions select the data with which to train the model. They take art and writing from artists and authors without credit or payment. The software then remixes and mimics what it is given.

Displacing agency by attributing intent to the AI is exactly how people and institutions erase human action in the creation of technology. It also leads to further perceptions of technology as acultural, unbiased, and, in essence, magical.

I've been more than a year on Mastodon but I don't think I've made an #unrealengine post yet... so here's some #techart from my game. 100% unlit and untextured, powered by Pivot Painter 2 and 3D noise by Kristof Lovas.

I've long since given up on these conflict minerals reports generating traction, being widely read, or getting the issue to be something your average person cares about.

My big hope now is just that someone with influence at Valve, at Amazon, at Sony, or even at Microsoft sees the report and asks someone else there, "What's the deal with this? Why are we screwing this up? Why aren't we doing better than this?"

The British spy police infiltrated groups advocating against racism. Peaceful groups that were not even suspected of breaking any laws.

They stole the identities of dead children.

They got into long term relationships with women who they had children with. Until they faked their own deaths and vanished suddenly.

Their behaviour was absolutely shocking and was not lawful. The Tories responded by increasing the scope of how police are allowed to act.
