I write about what I’m reading (mostly memoirs), loving (mostly handmade), thinking (sleep, blissful sleep), doing (hanging with my kids). And, of course, posts about my dogs. Welcome 🙂

I gave these ★★★★★ glowing garden lights to my mother as a housewarming gift last year and they were a big hit. They gather solar energy throughout the day and then turn on automatically when the sun goes down. So pretty!

Solar-powered LED Garden Lights make a great gift!

Spread the loveI gave these glowing garden lights to my mother as a housewarming gift last year and they were a big hit. They gather solar energy throughout the day and then turn on automatically when the sun goes down. So pretty, they glimmer like crystals in the garden. You can use them to light […]

I love these ★★★★★ denim leggings by Hue. They’re really soft and come in some great colors. Super-comfortable, but also work-appropriate as long as you can wear denim to work. And they’re high-waisted, so you’re not always pulling them back up. I have them in three colors and I’ve worn nothing else since they arrived. They’re like secretly being able to wear PJs outside the house!

My ★★★★★/5 review of plastic food storage containers that I can't do without. You should see my freezer – overrun by these containers and organized with magical labels that dissolve in the dishwasher! Amazing but true… (I’m Gen X and we do ellipses…)

Plastic Containers for Leftovers & Dissolvable Food Labels: Review

Spread the loveYou should see my freezer – overrun by these containers and organized with magical labels that dissolve in the dishwasher! Amazing but true… (I’m Gen X and we do ellipses…) They come in four sizes: 4 ounce, 8 ounce, 16 ounce, and 32 ounce. I don’t have any of the four ouncers because […]

My ★★★★/5 review of "Spare" by Prince Harry. This memoir reveals what it is like being the subject of tabloids. Leaks, manufactured scandals, the horrifically racist treatment of his wife, brother pitted against brother – what a miserable life.

Review of Prince Harry's Memoir "Spare"

Spread the loveYes, I read it 😉 Yes, it’s trashy. But parts are also really interesting. Prince Harry’s memoir reveals what it is like being the subject of tabloids. Leaks, manufactured scandals, the horrifically racist treatment of his wife, brother pitted against brother – it sounds like a miserable life. I remember when his mother […]

My ★★★★★/5 review of "Dying of Politeness" by Geena Davis. When Davis was three years old, she decided to be an actor. In this fabulous book she tells the story of her life through to the present, and concludes that always being polite is not necessarily the best way to get through life.

Here's my ★★★★★/5 review of Rebecca Woolf's "All of This: A Memoir of Death and Desire." This fabulous memoir recounts Woolf's troubled marriage, stirrings of divorce, followed by the sudden death of her husband Hal.

Review: "All of This: A Memoir of Death and Desire" Rebecca Woolf

Rebecca Woolf’s fabulous memoir recounts her troubled marriage, stirrings of divorce, followed by the sudden death of her husband Hal. She is left bereft, relieved, and sexually-starved and must figure out how to satisfy her own needs while parenting her three young kids. I followed her blog, Girls Gone Child, for years and never would […]

My ★★★★★/5 review of Jennette McCurdy's "I'm Glad My Mom Died." This is a fantastic book with an alarming title. I’ve never watched iCarly, but I didn’t need to know her character to be riveted by this book. Her abusive stage mom rules her life until she (spoiler) finally breaks free. Inspriational.

Review of "I'm Glad My Mom Died" by Jennette McCurdy

This is a fantastic book with an alarming title. I’ve never watched iCarly, but I didn’t need to know her character to be riveted by this book. Jennette’s mother was the quintessential stage mom and controlled every aspect of her life – even showering her and wiping her butt well into her late teens! After […]

Here's my ★★★★★/5 review of "No Job for a Man: A Memoir" by John Ross Bowie. There’s very little here about The Big Bang Theory if that’s what you’re looking for, but what is here is well-written and incredibly interesting. Bowie wanted to be an actor from when he was young, but his father decided it was ‘no job for a man.’

My ★★★★★/5 review of "A Heart That Works" by Rob Delaney. I just finished this book which is about Delaney's 2 year old son Henry’s death from cancer. It’s very moving, and I especially loved the passage where he talks about “prescription-strength art” helping him and his wife cope.

My ★★★★/5 review of "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir" Matthew Perry’s new memoir is so very sad. I truly hope he sticks around. He writes about his drug use during and after Friends, and his stories are harrowing. Have you read it?

Review of "Friends, Lovers, & the Big Terrible Thing" Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry’s new memoir is so very sad. I truly hope he sticks around. He writes about his drug use during and after Friends, and his stories are harrowing. He says you can track which substances he was abusing during filming by looking at his weight. “When I’m carrying weight, it’s alcohol; when I’m skinny, […]
