So apparently the term "patch" in software development comes from punched paper tape.

"Small corrections to the programmed sequence could be done by patching over portions of the paper tape and re-punching the holes in that section."

I'm trying to find out about people & institutions working in the emerging Plant Humanities (esp if they're working outside the US). I'd like to be able to do an informational interview with someone in this field to see if it's where I'd like to head.

Thanks! @plantscience @academicchatter #PlantHumanities #Botany #AcademicChatter

This looks great!
This five-workshop series will teach the fundamentals of #DATA #ANALYSIS and sonification using nonvisual tools and technologies. The workshops are designed for those who are #BLIND, low vision, or who otherwise have difficulty accessing visual tools for data science.

We thought we’d find 200 species living in our house and yard. We were very wrong

If it's available to you, donate money within the next 4 days to #BattenDiseaseFamilyAssociation, the charity supporting my family & my niece who has a neurodegenerative disease called #Batten.

Their support is necessary and invaluable.

What are your day-to-day activities?
How do you a keep work-life balance in this role?
What interests you most / find satisfying about this role?
What are the key challenges you faced in this profession?

These are some questions I will answer in an upcoming #interview with an undergraduate. They are keen to understand what do #bioinformaticians do.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and share them with the student so they have a broader view of this #career choice.

Boost welcome

For those who didn’t attend the #NextflowSummit, 🚀
Seqera Labs has set up a #Nextflow community forum🌐to provide more organised discussions. Google will also be able to scrape the forum so you should start seeing better answers show up in your searches🔍
