These Kazakh nomadic eagle hunters are a proud but vanishing people.

I took this photo at the start of the Golden Eagle #Festival, Altai Mountains, outside Bayan-Ulgii, Mongolia ~100 miles where the borders of #Mongolia, Kazakhstan, China and Russia almost intersect.

One of the most amazing spectacles I’ve witnessed. Thankful to be there for its 20th anniversary and during unseasonably sunny weather. A month later, the pandemic was brewing and about to unleash itself.

I'm a #newbie still trying to understand how the #Fediverse works. I want to post #photography /albums, possibly with long descriptions. I also want to write long random posts w/ or w/o an image. Not savvy enough to create a server.

QUESTIONS
1. Is #Friendica the solution?

2. What is the character limit for the description of photos in PixelFed or Friendica?

3. Or do I create #PixelFed and #WriteFreely (for really long posts) accounts and then post links to PixelFed, WriteFreely on #Mastodon?

The #Ukrainian word for watermelon is кавун (kabun). My ear for Ukrainian must not be developed enough because I can’t hear it in his reply.

Regardless, this is humorous because the people of #Kherson, #Ukraine have been handing out watermelons to their UAF (#ЗСУ) liberators. #Zelenskyy demonstrates again why he’s a great leader. He uses both steadfastness and occasional humor, which makes him relatable.
