Just a birb from the woods making my way in the world.
Is the @AsahiLinux project dead? A bunch of their main devs left a while back and really nothing has happened with the project except for macs being able to reboot. Kind of worried here.

It's really hard to explain how freaking amazing is that Alyssa was able to put this together in just a month.

It's also humbling for us, the rest of devs that are just mere mortals... 😅

Twitter is changing itself to 'X', and I'm left asking "Y?"

XDA claim they're a "leading tech publication".

They published an article titled: "Why I like Linux on my Steam Deck but not my desktop"

-> Uses tiny and basically unsupported obscure Linux distribution to make a case against it on the desktop.

-> Also thinks somehow Proton is only on Steam Deck?

Please, if you're going to publish a Linux article, get your writers to do more than 1 minute research into it.

Dear @fedora - if you have to *trick* your users into Telemetry by making it default so they click through it without paying attention, maybe you're being the bad guy.
In ~2014, my colleague & I argued that social media (esp. Twitter) had become part of the critical infrastructure of disaster response. People were turning to Twitter during crises to share information about impacts and resources. Disaster responders were using the data shared there for situational awareness, and were communicating in real-time with their constituents. Today’s events underscore just how dangerous it is for society to come to rely on private platforms as critical infrastructure.

Whoa. The EU just passed sweeping new regulations on batteries. An important section:

"Designing portable batteries in appliances in such a way that consumers can themselves easily remove and replace them;"

https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20230609IPR96210/making-batteries-more-sustainable-more-durable-and-better-performing

This seems like it will apply to phones and computers. The days of the "glass sandwich" phone might soon be over!

At least, when these regulations go live in 2027...

Making batteries more sustainable, more durable and better-performing | News | European Parliament

On Wednesday, Parliament approved new rules for the design, production and waste management of all types of batteries sold in the EU.

Glad to see that so many Fedora friends enjoyed their time in @fosdem this year. From attendees to speakers, check out how Fedora represented (with pictures)!
