Was a geek and fitness enthusiast, then a brain haemorrhage kinda ruined my day. Now I'm trying to get back on my feet and figure out who I am.

I saw a brief clip of a Mamdani interview yesterday on BlueSky, where he's asked if he likes capitalism. His answer - 'no' - shouldn't be a radical statement, in this world that is being so obviously and rapidly bled dry by it.

But it WAS a radical statement, because politicians never fucking say it.

We should say it. All the time. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, Mastodon, but fuck it - I like the song.

Capitalism is poison.

Burnett: Do you like capitalism? Mamdani: No, I have many critiques of capitalism. Yes! For too long it has been taboo to discuss legitimate critiques of capitalism in mainstream US media. This has shut down any chance of implementing real solutions to social crises. A new day is coming.

Bluesky Social

Do I want disabled people to receive material support to help them work?

No. I want disabled people to receive material support to help them *live*. That is what I want for all of us.

For our society (which has so much - SO MUCH!) to use that abundance to materially improve our days. Not just patch up the parts of us that are broken then feed us back into the 'eternal growth' machine, but help us experience and enjoy life, build community, family, joy.

BE HUMAN.

Rant incoming. One of the things that I think is most despicable about the toxic marriage of austerity and rampant capitalism is just how utterly and completely it has shaped the conversation towards what people can *produce*. People as economic units, like worker bees. We diligently gather stuff for ubercunts at the top to hoard like dragons, or set fire to in the futile hope of one day getting into space, or spend on pursuing fucking immortality (give me strength).

The cost of this is life.

Radical idea, what if you tried to run the country in the interests of the people who actually have to fucking live in it, rather than those who are intent on crowbarring every single penny out of our desperate, exhausted hands?

Good. A High Court in India has ruled that trans women are women. Indian court rules trans women are women https://www.thepinknews.com/2025/06/26/india-trans-women-high-court-decision/

Next please allow legalisation of same-sex marriage which is currently illegal in India and treat every LGBTQ+ person with dignity and let them have equal rights.

Indian court rules trans women are women and โ€˜legally entitled to recognitionโ€™

A High Court in India has ruled that trans women are women despite what India law may say in a landmark decision for the country.

Every time someone presents something AI generated in a meeting I just say hmmm donโ€™t you think it looks kinda cheap

This is absolute anathema in the corporate world

Itโ€™s not 100% effective, but itโ€™s probably the best tool in my tool belt, especially since itโ€™s true

Hell is other people's key performance indicators.

The best trick the wealthy 1% have ever pulled off is to convince the politically vocal (and influential) next 20% that one day they could be super wealthy too, and so increases in tax on the current wealthy, are really increases of tax on their future wealth....

By the time the 20% realise the 1% have made sure they'll never get that wealthy a new generation is waiting to be hoodwinked!

So... you're allowed to be disabled *right now* but if you happen to become so in the future then fuck you. This is fucking disgusting. Just absolutely no thought whatsoever to people's lives. People as things. Economic units, only consuming or producing, no room or support or compassion to be allowed to *live*.

I fucking hate the Labour party.

Cuts to some disability benefits will only hit future claimants, not those already on it.
