Running watchOS 26 beta, getting new battery warnings, at 50% and 35%, telling me my battery usage is unusual.

But this one (see pic) came up this morning, when my watch was 100%, fresh off the charger.

Anyone else seeing this?

Apple TV lets you change your search keyboard from linear (one line, across the screen) to a grid (see pic).

On Apple TV:

Settings > General > Keyboard Layout

@modern I got an Alexa+ invite, bought a device that was specifically tagged by Amazon as supporting Alexa+, got walked through the Alexa+ setup. Is there a specific question I can ask that only Alexa+ could answer?

New Dalrymple Report is live!😎

I got an Alexa+ device, Jim and I compare it with Gemini and Siri, talk about charging one Apple device from an iPhone, explore my iOS 26 install, highlight a favorite feature, lots more...

Dig in, and thanks for listening. 🙏🏻❤️

"Charge AirPods (or Even an iPhone) With Your iPhone"

Reverse charging (or power sharing) was introduced with iPhone 15 (2 years ago).

But still, this is worth knowing. Good writeup, easy read...

"CareerBuilder + Monster, which once dominated online job boards, file for bankruptcy"

Something ironic in this, a sign of the times?

×

I’m a big fan of iOS 26 beta two.

Apple made lots of lovely tweaks. Especially where liquid glass is concerned.

One tweak made Control Center more opaque, easier to read (see pic).

@davemark Is Beta 2 ready to install on main iPhone? How are the 3rd party apps behaving?

@mgetzski I'm guessing Beta 1 was ready for prime time, but as a rule, I always wait for Beta 2.

So far, I have not encountered a single issue with B2.

@davemark Asked ChatGTP and the first public beta for iOS 18 was released a week after the 3rd developer beta, on July15th.

@davemark Not to be a wiseass but rather suggest a change in framing. If I were reviewing this as a submission from a design job candidate:

What meaning is intended to be conveyed with the red Do Not Disturb, green ATV and purple timer buttons?

How is the user helped by these colors being different if they bring Control Center down over a different home screen page?

Whet value is derived from the ‘content showing through' under a modal interaction like Control Center?

@jon_alper good food for thought. Still, it’s only beta two. Let’s see what Apple does with beta three.

@jon_alper

This is an insane take and an odd reply. None of that is what you said, what you are seeing see reflections of the colours of the users apps in the background

@Dame_ I’m aware, painfully, of what the source of the color is.

Now the question for you is…

What purpose is served by making the user’s app icons partly visible behind Control Center?

To be more explicit to make the question easier, what purpose for THE USER is served?

@jon_alper If you’re painfully aware it wasn’t obvious by your question especially pointing out the colours as those would’ve been any colours.

Now this is a question that makes sense. There’s no real user benefit at all, just the glass illusion, which is done poorly.
But I’ll reverse and ask you, what harm is being done? How is the user experience significantly worse by this?

@Dame_ I mean this in the kindest way possible, if you want to talk about UI/UX you need to do some reading.
