TAIC investigating Boeing 777 loss of control on ground at Auckland Airport | TAIC

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has opened an inquiry into an incident on Friday 27 January 2023 in which a Boeing 777 lost control on the ground.  The reported circumstances were that a New Zealand-registered Boeing 777, ZK-OKN, was on a scheduled flight -- NZ124 -- from Melbourne to Auckland. The aircraft landed at Auckland International Airport during wind gusts and very heavy rain.

Reports (unconfirmed) that passengers on QF148 ( AKL > SYD ) have been stuck on the aircraft on the ground in AKL for more than 5 hours because the flight was not able to depart (due to #weather and/or #runway #lighting INOP) and passengers could not be deplaned because the whole international terminal is flooded! @airlineflyer https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/qf148#2efc7900

An actual #news story in #NewZealand today. #journalism
Maybe I'm not reading this right, but isn't my #iphone telling me this #notification arrived tomorrow?!?
Hilarious. #News article on #RadioNewZealand website claims that the international urgency signal, PAN-PAN-PAN, means "Possible Assistance Needed"! :) Googling things is not #journalism.
@w7voa I got the same response from #Twitter and all I did was post a link to www.adsbexchange.com (main web page, not a link to any aircraft).

@randomwalker @TrueSciPhi Very interesting. There are still #journalists #banned from #Twitter because the Dear Leader didn't like what they said (and others, like me who tweeted a link to the main website of @ADSBexchange ).

This reminds me of #wartime #reporting when the #journo is operating from enemy territory and subject to #censorship. Each report includes a disclaimer that there are restrictions on what they can report.

At what point should journalists, or scientists, remind readers on Twitter that what they publish there is subject to some restrictions?

Stolen from reddit. The kids are alright.

@paulapenfold

First - Fire and Fury was an absolute masterpiece, an incredibly important piece of #Journalism.

Second - I would like to see more (public) consequences for the worst abusers, the ones that threaten safety. People need to learn that is not acceptable. Some journos seem to brush these off (publicly at least) but I worry that if offenders are not prosecuted that behaviour will escalate over time. I'd like to see some of those pricks in Court answering for their actions!
