The current #DLSS 5 / #Nvidia drama, especially the #DigitalFoundry title calling the results "realistic" looking is honestly disgusting.

We've got "they're just changing how the light looks" comments while lips magically increase heavily in size (see attached image) and faces being lit like in a studio with a single direct light source from behind the person.

The worst part about all of this? You can literally use Gemini with basic-ass prompts and get better looking results.

Anybody looking at #discord alternatives and dismissing Root as one due to the misinformation and vague policy; They updated it with a very clear stance and easy to understand summary when opening the app.

Please for the love of you and your kids, get rid of discord.

Security researchers claim Persona, the provider behind Discord's UK age verification 'experiment', performs '269 individual verification checks' on user data, including those for terrorism and espionage

'269 individual verification checks', to be precise.

Since I've seen this posted daily by now, with people claiming "#Steam reacts to #Discord changes", I'd like to clarify.. that this post is from god damn 2018.

Please read, people.

New friends list, voice, and chat features

The All-New Steam Chat: New friends list, chat, and voice chat features

@jackie Except it can't replace Discord for the majority of it's userbase - with no plans on doing so.

It's lacking notification/sound settings, voice chat has the highest latency among other options out there and basic (by modern standard) chat functionality like replying to messages is missing entirely.

It's designed for a couple of friends rarely chatting and playing together - nothing more.

It's hilarious to see all the #Discord related topics pop up on #Reddit with people going "I think it's time to switch to Revolt, I always told you so" in the comments.

People who didn't even realized the app is called Stoat instead of Revolt for over 4 months now.

Which ironically matched the development speed of the project.

@mellow Stoat (prev. Revolt) is honestly not a valid alternative at all, because the development speed is simply atrocious.

Root App is - outside of being US based - currently the by far most advanced option we have, that actually feels like a solid product, despite being in beta still.

For most people, Steam groups will likely be the best alternative however; They support text/voice chat with all the features you could need for a "Group of friends playing/talking" setting.

@padraig Another alternative is actually Steam Groups.

They support text/voice chats, pretty much everyone already has Steam installed and joining groups is a complete non-issue.

For people who use Discord as a way to stay in touch with friend groups, i don't see any easier path.

@Richard_Littler Worth noting that it doesn't actually "filter AI images"; it filters sites known to host AI images.

Your search results can (and will) still include AI-generated images not hosted on those blacklisted sites and non-AI images hosted on blacklisted sites won't show up either.
