I keep a very large cabinet filled with #tea & #dates, may give #hummus & baba ghanouj (ghanoush, ghanouch) advice, love #cooking & #baking & growing food, the beauty of languages, #Arabic; steeped in #politics since birth.

Love our world of flavors so I won't be playing the odds with my ability to taste just so some stranger can "see my smile."

You wouldn't have known it if you were in California or much of the Western United States (which just experienced a remarkably cold March by contemporary standards). But almost everywhere else in the world, extraordinary warmth has been persistent for months now. #CAwx https://t.co/Udu2vxz61a

There are many real long-term solutions to the pandemic:

➡️ Regulate indoor air quality

The ultimate source of the smell of rain is a population of soil bacteria known as actinobacteria. When the air becomes humid just as rainfall begins, those microbes get busy & produce aromatic geosmin as a byproduct.

Why you can smell rain

A weather expert explains where petrichor – that pleasant, earthy scent that accompanies a storm’s first raindrops – comes from.

The Conversation
When you smell rain, you are smelling this molecule: geosmin. It also contributes to the distinctive aromas of fish, beans, and beets...and it turns out to be useful for drawing mosquitoes into traps. https://www.acs.org/molecule-of-the-week/archive/g/geosmin.html #rain #chemistry

US Big Tech: it's okay to spy on users and send all this data to the other side of the world.

TikTok: okay!

US Big Tech: wait, no, not like that!

I am not saying something should not be done about TikTok. I am saying the same thing should be done about all other privacy-invading social media crapps. And in fact should have been done years ago.
