Half my mastodon is cats and queer posts (with substantial overlap!), but the rest is linguistics and science stuff. So, I think we need a gay sciencecat instance now. Rainbow.sciencecat?
this is probably going out into the void on a very general server, but: hello! I am a phonetician and fieldworking linguist at the University at Buffalo working on languages of Cameroon and China. I am hoping to pre-empt things by rebuilding some social networks here even though I am late to the party (and so, locked out of all the linguist servers). where are we??
I'm an associate professor at the University at Buffalo who does research in articulatory & acoustic phonetics; corpus phonetics; tonal phonetics & phonology; prosody; and linguistic fieldwork. My fieldwork focuses mostly on Otomanguean languages in Mexico (Triqui, Mixtec varieties, Ixcatec). I'm an amateur pianist, poet, and hiker. I love fantasy fiction and cats. My husband refuses to get on social media, but Carmen doesn't mind.
