Matt Faytakthis is probably going out into the void on a very general server, but: hello! I am a phonetician and fieldworking linguist at the University at Buffalo working on languages of Cameroon and China. I am hoping to pre-empt things by rebuilding some social networks here even though I am late to the party (and so, locked out of all the linguist servers). where are we??

There is a group @linguistics that boosts all posts that tag it, and there's a list of linguists at https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/mastodonlinguists (by @GeorgeWalkden and @stefanhartmann respectively). Also, you need to use hashtags in order for posts to be findable via search

@faytak yeah I'm not sure why @linguistics didn't work, maybe it has to be with the server @linguistics
