I am many things, a husband, a father, a writer, an Audio producer, a musician, a teacher, and a practicing witch, among other things. I'm someone who believes wholeheartedly in the proposition that lifting others lifts me and makes the world a better place.
I am also very human and imperfectly embody my ideals. I ask that those who follow this stream to respectfully call me out when I fail, that I may learn better.

Have run my family through character creation in #daggerheart. To a person, they didn't like the background or connections questions part of character creation. We just talked things through in that regard, so we'll see how that works.

β€œFor those who like raw, or runny yolked eggs, there is bad news as various states start to update their public health information. For example, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services has produced a fact sheet focusing on "avian influenza and safe poultry cooking" which states; "make sure eggs are fully cooked so that the yolks are not runny or liquid."

Is It Safe To Eat Chicken, Eggs And Milk Amid H5N1 Bird Flu Outbreak?

Avian flu outbreaks have now been reported in cows and chickens in several states, so is it safe to eat food that may have come from infected animals?

Dear voters, if ever you are asked to fund a sports stadium for a billionaire owner, I urge you to say no. They get paid amply for providing you something to watch, Along with movie companies demanding tax credits to film in your localities, this strikes me as coal to Newcastle, to use polite terms that do not involve the word fuck. (oops) (I'd rather have positive associations with the word fuck.) How about utter gall and tell them to get stuffed, (consensually of course.)
Normal: adj: a term from mathematics that refers to vectors that are perpendicular to a reference vector or vector space. Any use of this term to refer to people is morally suspect, factually unverifiable, (unless of course they are perpendicular to something) and intellectually lazy. If you want to be normal, I mean you do you, but being perpendicular to something might be unnecessarily uncomfortable. (abnormal as an adjective for people also suffers from the same problems.)
Okay, this was utterly new to me and is incredibly cool. (not sorry) Passive cooling is likely to be part of mitigating the effects of climate change in my lifetime. https://youtu.be/ta940DX_zko?si=LKNg0gUsWeq67Q0U

Being poor and/or a minority is literally, physically and mentally, detrimental your health.

So please endeavour not to be any of those things (sarcasm).

Writing about science can be hard. I see the author of this article doing a pretty good job of explaining the difference between an observational study and a random controlled trial, and then falling down with the use of the words "increased risk" where ""correlation" (how do you spell that damned word anyway?) would be the more correct term, as increased risk implies causation, which the author tries to clarify away elsewhere. Language matters. https://www.salon.com/2024/03/25/is-there-a-link-between-intermittent-fasting-and-heart-disease_partner/
How healthy is intermentitent fasting, really?

"There are conflicting results about intermittent fasting in the scientific literature"

anyone know of a good web site or app to learn bird calls that a #blind person can usefully use?

Conversation with a not-yet disabled person who has known me for awhile but not previously grasped the extent of my illness.

On understanding my physical limitations, they said, "I don't think I could live like that."

I wish I had replied:

Because you would find yourself in a body that is no longer a dominating part of the dominant culture.

And you currently believe that a body like this has no inherent value.

To survive, you would have to admit that you were wrong.

It seems there's a shortage of at least one generic insulin in the Southwest Michigan area, perhaps larger than this. It took my wife three hours on the phone with several different entities to sort out that, yes, we could keep our child alive with an alternative formulation (not generic) and have it covered by our poor people's insurance. The fact that making sure their insulin supply could continue was not the top priority of these entities is. . . really interesting, don't you think?
