@liztai I have high hopes for the fediverse but also doubt it will succeed in its current form. Would be happy to be wrong though. Funny you mention your trending page, my trending page has been broken for a week. Showing me trends for Chile and not San Diego, CA. It’s what finally prompted me to join a mastodon server.

@liztai I will say not being on twitter for several days now I have noticed a real change in my mood as well. Maybe it’s just the days off coming for Thanksgiving but being unplugged from there has felt good. I am in the position where I can afford to be though. And news wise at some point I guess I started paying for Apple News without knowing it so I’ve got that and the journalists I follow that have migrated here as well to keep up with the world.

@liztai I’m hoping we get enough traction here for official government mastodon instances to pop up for official accounts. Maybe the same for news services too like the AP or BBC.
Personally my active community on Twitter is totally dormant or gone now save for my sports teams.

@left_adjoint I did a bunch of work out of contract just trying to be a good guy to some good friends. Ended up taking nearly 8 months for them to pay me my back pay that I had written in and itemized in my new contract.

@mattblaze @mmasnick Should we be viewing Zuck in a different light now as an incompetent CEO who’s in over his head but would do a better job if he was capable of doing a better job or had better people around him. Versus somebody like Elon who’s been pretty bad at every job he’s ever had but doesn’t care because he’s personally insulated from any and every bad outcome.

@montecook Yeah but Lex also ran for and became president in the 90s or 00s basically saying that he’s a rich successful guy with no need to kowtow to outside interests so he’ll be less corrupt while simultaneously being the most corrupt guy ever. Sound familiar?

@KendraLittle I always wanted to order Thanksgiving from a local BBQ place that does 3-5 person Thanksgiving dinners you can order and pick up. Finally remembered to order it the week before this year. Hope it ends up being good.
