I'm thinking back to this recent piece from @arturmaks about how top natsec officials need to testify in Parliament more often. https://policyoptions.irpp.org/magazines/april-2023/must-increase-confidence-canadas/

I'd like to add: if MPs are going to drag Canada's top natsec officials before committee -- and they should! -- the least they could do is some homework and *ask them something*.

We must increase confidence in Canada’s security and intelligence enterprise

Increased transparency can improve confidence in Canadian security and intelligence. Using intel to guide policymaking would also help.

Pleased to be in Toronto again. Chance to meet colleagues to talk about #antisemitism and revisit my old haunts on Church and Wellesley. #LGBT
Great to visit the #Norwegian Embassy in #Ottawa with students form the University of Ottawa Graduate School of Public & International Affairs. Thanks to Ambassador Frederiksen for an engaging conversation on #diplomacy the #arctic #NATO #multilateralism and a range of other #policy questions.
Today is the National Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Mosque Shooting in Quebec City and Action against Islamophobia. Important for us to confront #Islamophobia and build inclusive communities for all persons.
This Friday is International #Holocaust Remembrance Day - the anniversary of the liberation of #Auschwitz Birkenau by Soviet forces. It’s important to remember the 6 million men, women and children who were murdered because they were #Jews. We must also remember other victims of Nazism - Roma, the disabled, Poles, Soviet POWs, gay men, political prisoners and others. Let’s build a more robust and resilient democracy for all. #IHRD
Glorious day of cross country #skiing in #Ottawa. Beautiful #winter day for some outside #exercise
The acknowledgment that President #Biden had unauthorized classified documents at his home and at an office is problematic. The mishandling of #classified material is not a partisan question. #Trump case is worse for a number of reasons. The cavalier attitude that many politicians have toward secret and top secret material is a function of lax controls, belief that the consequences of disclosure are minor, and a general belief that most things are over classified (real problem)

This is how I ended up in Canada. #Poland launched an antisemitic campaign in 1968 that led to the expulsion of thousands of Jews. Polish #antisemitism survived the #Holocaust even if it’s Jews did not. https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-725871
Poland refuses to confront its 1968 antisemitic pogrom against Jews

As we approach the 55th anniversary of the expulsion of 1968, it is time Poland confronts its history by compensating old offenses and confronting the remaining ghosts of the past.
