It's cool that the platform is not really targeted by many corporations and so you end up using mostly community projects to get things done. It has a bit of a mid-2000s Linux vibe.
Also yes, I do plan to contribute to the FreeBSD Handbook to make it better. Just been involved in a few big projects recently so didn't have time yet.
I have been using #FreeBSD as my primary desktop and development machine for a month now, having migrated from Manjaro.
Things I like - package management makes sense... I mean - it just does 👀 . Things that work just work and perform relatively well (laptop go brrr).
Things I don't like - some things just don't work and it's not easy to find resources to fix them (FreeBSD handbook is pretty good, but it's not Arch's wiki). How do I even dbus? So you want to run Sublime Text on #wayland 🤡 ?
#FreeBSD moved their #IRC channels to #LiberaChat.

After a few weeks of playing around I think I'm done with my basic #freebsd 13 setup. Using #hikari wm on #wayland, with #waybar. Trying to wrap my head around #alacritty, #kakoune (although using #zee a bit as well), and #broot.
The only problem left to solve is why it doesn't pick up the HDMI port that I have. Doesn't work in #xorg or terminal either 🤔
