I sell O-Rings. Yes, round rubber rings. I also wrote an iPhone app to help find the right O-Ring. I guess the makes me a developer.

there are some great videos on YouTube that cover the basics. A lot of not so great, but I watch them too looking for that tiny gem of a tip. VeloOrange has a post on their blog about shellac and using flakes, which is what I use and recommended.

@ascentale @daihard @bikenite I learned to wrap with cloth tape as a kid. Then migrated to flat bars. Years later I got a road bike and used vinyl tape, which is junk. Now I have alt bars and got back into cloth tape. I have Ergon G3 grips because they match and feel great. I forget how much I love the feel of cloth. And this setup has gone through a rainy season and looks good still.

Attached: 4 images I did a thing on my handlebars. Granola-Moose bars from velo orange. Ergon GA3 grips, because color. And then for multiple hand positions, newbaum’s eggplant cloth tape. Tied off with hemp cord a three coats of shellac. The tape is one piece on each side. I wrapped starting from the inside and Maki wrapped, or single color harlequin, then at the tee each side of the tape goes in a different direction. After the shellac dried, I brushed the tape with a brass wire brush to soften the feel.

A2. I’m a glove user.

I ride with a variety of gloves. I have some 7idp mtb gloves that are a thin neoprene fabric for cool rainy days. I have some Smart Wool gloves that have a wind cover in the back of them you can pull over the fingers making them like mittens. Braking takes adjusting from two fingers to mitts.
And for regular rides on warm days, I have my favorites, Planet Bike Taurus crocheted mesh back fingerless gloves. They have a padded palm with a Kevlar patch. The patch is for protection from falls. I use cloth bar tape or ergo grips so they work well for me.

@coolandnormal #bikenite had a great thread on this a while back.

One thing rarely mentioned, but I always carry, is toilet paper.

@[email protected] wonders about what's in your kit (as in tool bag)? Q3. What's in your kit? (As in tool bag, inspired by https://sfba.social/@[email protected]/113727960267325177 Can you share any photos of it?) #BikeNite #BikeNiteQ

A5. 1) Yoga - I’m still a kid, but sometime ago in my 50’s I saw my flexibility starting to wane. I started stretching before I rode which then evolved to yoga movement and then became a daily routine, whether I rode or not. This has helped me not only keep my flexibility but improved my balance. Been doing it over 15 years now.

2) Related to 1, admit your limitations. Take precautions. I know my reflexes are not as good as they used to be, so I started wearing a helmet. Was weird at first, after more than 45 years of riding, but I support that decision.

3) get a bike fit. It helps to be comfortable and not have the bike be a cause of injury.

While on my Sunday morning bike ride I noticed quite a bit of activity at one of the trailheads back towards home. I asked what was happening and was told the local running club was having its annual 5k/10k/half/full marathon. I thought I might make it through before the race, so I continued on. About 3/4s of the way I hit the runners.

There was a few at first, then a large pack. I decided to pull over until it thinned. I started cheering some of the runners.
Then a thought hit me! What would Tim Walz do?
I spent the next hour cheering, clapping and encouraging all the runners that went by. Fast, slow, young, old, it was a diverse group and I did my best to elevate them.

My throat hurts now. But it was fun.
This should be a thing.

@dr2chase I think this is what synchronicity means. This weekend I’m setting up a TP-Link RE450 to extend my network. I looked at your profile and saw your blog post. Thanks for the info!

A7. I watched this yesterday and enjoyed learning about his experience. I had a few interactions with the law when I lived in Seattle. Probably the only place I have in 60+ years of riding. The one instance that stands out I had stopped at an intersection waited my turn, then started to go when a car ran the stop sign to my left. I almost got clipped and yelled very choice words, then on my way. Next thing I knew two bike police came up beside me and asked me to stop. I obliged and sat on my bike with my arms crossed. Then one started berating me about having to stop and how could I yell at the driver like that. I told him I had stopped. Why did he think I didn’t? He said he watched and said I never put my foot down. That’s when the second one poked him and pointed at my feet. I rode a fixed gear at that time and track stands were my superpower. This whole interaction took place with both feet on the pedals. He left no apology.
