What's in your bike kit?

I have a 'new' second hand bike. I'm setting it up to be independent for fairly short rides (less than 50km) into *absolutely no civilisation*.

These are my lists so far. Please add to them. I'm going to a city today to stock up.

Kit (to carry on the bike):
- multitool to fit all allen keys, screws, etc
- puncture repair patchs+glue
- gas canisters/compact pump
- chain lube
- tool bag
- basic survival stuff: snake bite kit, water, small snack, space blanket, regular meds, maybe a little neck gaiter/snood, sunscreen
- optional (to fit in general storage box): stove, flask, tea

Set-up:
- wing mirrors
- independent lighting (the lights are wired into the ebike)
- storage: straps, tool bag, large general storage box, possibly a flat tray on the back.

Edit: I already carry a satellite phone/emergency beacon, so that's covered.

Inb4 'you don't need a snake bite kit to ride a bike'

...You do. If you ever visit here, yes you do.

A guy recently got bitten by a snake in the local area. He was inside a car going at 80km/h. The snake was thrown up by the wheel and into the front window.

Obviously this kind of situation isn't common, but the sheer number of snakes requires some caution.

@coolandnormal this is not the first time i've heard of that happening, and its why i sometimes rode along with my feet on the handle bars in case i was wrong about that being a stick
@coolandnormal assuming the guy is ok this is 1) peak Australia and 2) hilarious
@coolandnormal I've had more up-close interactions with snakes on a bike than walking or anything else! I think its the combination of moving fast and quietly, they have less time to realise you're coming and move away.
I'm going all out on this aesthetic. It's a compact low-to-mid-range ebike, so it looks a lot like a a sized up children's bike.
@coolandnormal Maybe a flare, backup telecoms, all purpose knife..
@coolandnormal chain break tool if that isn't in your multitool - I had a chain break on a ride once and it saved my bacon.

@coolandnormal #bikenite had a great thread on this a while back.

One thing rarely mentioned, but I always carry, is toilet paper.

@[email protected] wonders about what's in your kit (as in tool bag)? Q3. What's in your kit? (As in tool bag, inspired by https://sfba.social/@[email protected]/113727960267325177 Can you share any photos of it?) #BikeNite #BikeNiteQ
