@pete asks about interactions with police while cycling:

Q7. This week, ex-pro cyclist Phil Gaimon posted a video documenting a run-in he'd had with the authorities, from police stop thru to trial. Have you had any similar instances where you've had to know your rights as a cyclist and if so, how'd it go?

LA Sheriff Gets SCHOOLED by Pro Cyclist

A7. I watched this yesterday and enjoyed learning about his experience. I had a few interactions with the law when I lived in Seattle. Probably the only place I have in 60+ years of riding. The one instance that stands out I had stopped at an intersection waited my turn, then started to go when a car ran the stop sign to my left. I almost got clipped and yelled very choice words, then on my way. Next thing I knew two bike police came up beside me and asked me to stop. I obliged and sat on my bike with my arms crossed. Then one started berating me about having to stop and how could I yell at the driver like that. I told him I had stopped. Why did he think I didn’t? He said he watched and said I never put my foot down. That’s when the second one poked him and pointed at my feet. I rode a fixed gear at that time and track stands were my superpower. This whole interaction took place with both feet on the pedals. He left no apology.

@anson @ascentale @pete Oh yeah, seattle cops LOOOOVE that whole "you didn't put your foot down, therefore you didn't stop" thing. I made it a habit to just literally touch my foot to the ground while still moving at like 5mph, just because fuck SPD. #BikeNite
@Andres4NY @anson @ascentale @pete I got pretty good at stopping with my feet up and non-stopping with a foot loudly slapped down onto the ground. I like to track-stand *on* the RR tracks just to give everyone something to worry about and create as much cognitive dissonance as I can.
@dr2chase I think this is what synchronicity means. This weekend I’m setting up a TP-Link RE450 to extend my network. I looked at your profile and saw your blog post. Thanks for the info!
@anson the firmware upgrade process was also flaky -- I tried to go straight to latest, and that failed, so I had to upgrade to the next-after, then to the latest. Get your exact model number (mine was a v4.6) from the device before you do any upgrades, that is supposed to matter. Maybe.
