#Trump said the government will pay for IVF — he’s lying. The GOP just killed the IVF bill.

Trump said Mexico would pay for the wall — he lied. You paid for the wall.

Trump said tariffs will pay for his disastrous spending plans — he lied. You’ll pay for those too.

The district attorney plans to prosecute the 14-year-old Georgia school shooter as an adult. Then let’s give 14-year-olds the vote.

I grieve for the students of Apalachee High School in Georgia and their families, including those slaughtered and maimed in today’s shooting.

I also propose that we name the massacre the way we name legislation. Since it was in his district, let this be the Representative Mike Collins School Massacre of 2024. He is a gun-toting, voting-machine-shooting extremist. For information about his background, here is a Wikipedia article about him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Collins_(politician)

"We need a leader that will personify what is on all three sides of my patrol car: Protect. Serve. Unify. #KamalaHarris is that leader." -- Sheriff Chris Swanson, Genesee County, #Michigan at the #DNC2024 #HarrisWalz2024 #Together #Hope #Future #Flint @kamalaharrisforpresidentnews

I don't know who to credit for this but it's perfect

If Trump said that he would execute protesters, Politifact would say that’s only because he would faithfully execute the trespassing laws.

Big Journalism is engaged in a parody of fact checking at this point.

Trump gets ho-hum corrections -- often granularly parsed to give him endless benefits of the doubt -- and the fact-checkers don't even pretend to get to every lie.

Democrats get granular parsing, too. But the goal is to find falsehoods and never, ever give the benefit of the doubt.

Fact-checking is a sadly broken both-sides (even when one is lying) enterprise.

Beware the Pundit-Brained Version of the Democratic Convention

As everyday Americans tune in to watch Kamala Harris receive her party’s nomination, they should trust what they see with their own eyes—especially as D.C.’s chattering class tries to gaslight them.

The New Republic
Politifact has a serious fact problem rating as false assertions about Trump based on Trump’s actual actions or statements because Trump has *also* said otherwise or pretended to change position. Politifact implies Trump’s later statements accurately represent his actual position. If Politifact wants to take into account Trump’s prevarications, it should say only this: “Politifact is unable to assess any assertion about what Trump believes or says because everything Trump says is bullshit.”
Almost all “news” organizations have misled and confused the public as to what is “news”; and the names CNN, Fox News are misleading. They fill feeds/pages with flackery, punditry, predictions, and suppositions (and, with Fox, lies). I wish they would clearly label each story with one of the following: ORIGINAL NEWS REPORTING, NEWS REGURGITATION, NEWS ANALYSIS, PUNDITRY, FLACKERY, INVITED OPINION, SUBMITTED OPINION, PREDICTION, SPECULATION, FANTASY, or SATIRE.
