I don't know who to credit for this but it's perfect

@JoshuaHolland "as reported by the New York Times"

@ricardoharvin @JoshuaHolland Probably, considering that the NYT actually reported that Hitler's anti-Semitic rhetoric was actually clever political ploy to rile up the rubes.

The New York Times’ first article about Hitler’s rise is absolutely stunning

@TurtleJoe @JoshuaHolland Exactly. Along with their glowing article on him they published in August, 1939.
@JoshuaHolland I don't know what to make of that
@davad @JoshuaHolland I can help: it's mocking PolitiFact for its dangerous tendency to report whether something is fact based on the say-so of known liars and bad actors

@JoshuaHolland sadly, spot on….imagine if we didn’t have an entire right wing media organization working solely to elect republicans, and didn’t have a “mainstream” media doing the same but more subtly.

I will gently suggest that democrats would will a lot more races.

Until we bring the ultrarich to heel, we’re never going to be out of this mess.

@JoshuaHolland
 Readers added context they thought people might like to know:
The Rhineland is in the West of Germany, while Poland is in the East. The correct river is the Vistula, after Hitler "freed" Danzig.
@kaia @JoshuaHolland right, but the demilitarization of the Rhineland was mandated in the Treaty of Versailles. Invading there was a major step toward total war, even if it’s the opposite direction

@JoshuaHolland
Not to be a killjoy, I just have understood that Politifact and the Poynter Institute to be good faith actors trying to fairly call balls and strikes.
Undermining or sowing doubt about actual experts is TFGs MO and makes space for his "the truth is unknowable" rhetoric, which has allowed his rise.

I'm still persuadable but I hate to see another competent organization enshrouded by the fog of the culture war if that is what is happening.

@JoshuaHolland TIL politifact is still a thing.
